Signing of three cooperation agreements between Tunisia and Argentina
Tunis, November 19, 2008- A ceremony chaired by Presidents Zine El Abidine Ben Ali and Cristina Fernandez De Kirchner was held on Wednesday, during which three co-operation agreements between Tunisia and Argentina were signed, in the sectors of trade, culture, education, scientific research, technology and agriculture.
Tunisia’s Foreign Affairs Minister and Argentina’s Foreign Relations, International Trade and Religious Affairs Minister signed on this occasion, a co-operation agreement in the sectors of trade and technology transfer related to international trade between Tunisia and Argentina.
This agreement provides for the organisation of promotional activities to develop exports in both countries, such as trade missions, participation in fairs and exhibitions and the follow-up of trade promotion initiatives on other markets.
The two ministers also signed a cultural and educational exchange programme for the 2008-2011 period. The agreement underlines the mutual commitment to energise cultural co-operation through the intensification of exchanges, notably of cultural groups during cultural events organised in both countries.
For their part, Tunisia’s Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technology Minister and the Argentina’s Science, Technology and Innovation Minister signed a co-operation programme in the field of scientific research and technology for the 2009-2011 period, aimed at boosting co-operation and partnership between Tunisian and Argentinean research institutions and enterprises as regards the commercial applications of scientific and technological research in biology and information and communication technologies, sectors.
The Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources and the Argentinean Secretary of State in charge of agriculture, livestock, fisheries and food, signed a frame cooperation agreement in the agricultural field between both countries.
The agreement covers notably the sectors of agricultural research and the exchange of experience insofar as livestock and fodder cultivation are concerned, and provides for co-operation in the field of forestry development, as well as the fight against desertification.
