Iraqi artist on exhibit in Tunis
Tunis, April 3, 2008 (TunisiaOnline) --The highly colorful paintings of Ali Ridha, an Iraqi artist living in Tunisia, are currently exhibited at the Caliga art gallery in Tunis.
The Iraqi painter who is considered as a unique colorist ‘uses' his paintings as a means to express his feelings and impressions concerning the political and social reality of his mother land.
The interplay of colors which punctuate his paintings creates a nostalgic atmosphere, as well as a colorful perception of his memories. Through the use of dark and bright colors, the painter points out the richness and liveliness of the Iraq of his childhood.
The visitor is also attracted by a series of five abstract paintings dubbed “Croquis” (sketches) which features a gradation of colors from black to white marked by the use of the red color, thus appealing to the viewer's senses insofar as the colors create a movement and a rhythm. The exhibit which runs until April 17, is a must see.
