Hammamet's “Dar Sebastian” to host “Spring of Tunisian music”, featuring budding talents

Tunis, April 22, 2008 (TunisiaOnline)--A musical event named “Spring of Tunisian music” will take place at the renowned Dar Sebastian, lodged in the Hammamet international cultural center. The event will spread out over three two day sessions, respectively on April 26 and 27, May 3 and 4 and May 10 and 11, 2008.

The spring of Tunisian music which is held under the aegis of the Ministry of culture and heritage preservation in collaboration with the Tunisian Association of Sciences, aims primarily at allowing young Tunisian virtuoso artists to present their works in all walks of music (classical, oriental and jazz music).

Fittingly, a Tunisian orchestral ensemble made of young professional musicians will open the show on April 26. The group will feature chamber music pieces dating back from the glory days of baroque music to date .

Other groups such as “Ranim” which specializes in modern music and the Bechir brothers which will feature classical music will also perform their works. The duo composed of Mehdi Trabelsi and Helene Tiggler ( Romania ), will also perform classical pieces on the piano.

Jazz music will be represented by the Tunisian piano player Mohamed Ali Kamoun who will conduct a modern jazz orchestra.

The closing of this original event will take place on May 11, when the orchestra of the Tunisian Music Institute directed by Mr Rachid Koubaa, will play some songs from the repertoire of the Lebanese Diva, Feirouz. The songs will be interpreted by talented young singers.
