French President Nicolas Sarkozy on State visit to Tunisia

Tunis , April 26, 2008 (TunisiaOnline) --The official spokesman to the Presidency of the Republic announced on Saturday that at the invitation of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali , and as part of the strengthening of the friendship and co- operation relations binding Tunisia and France, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, will be paying a State visit to Tunisia on April 28- 30, 2008.

It is the second time President Sarkozy visits Tunisia . His first official visit took place in July 2007.

-August 12, 2006- President Ben Ali reaffirms Tunisia’s commitment to the code of personal status, a pioneering legislation adopted in 1956, which has granted Tunisian women equal rights with men. The code has banned polygamy, forced marriages and repudiation.
