TUNISIAONLINENEWS- In interviews with “Tunisiaonlinenews”, many Arab intellectual and researchers’ women expressed their point of view concerning the issue of violence against women as part of their participation in the Arab Conference to fight violence against women, held in Tunis from March 8 to 9, 2010.

Mrs. Loris Sfeir, president of the Lebanese Council to resist violence against women expressed the honor she was given for handing the Shield from the Lebanese Council to resist violence against women, to the First Lady, Mrs Leila Ben Ali for the efforts she exerted in promoting the conditions of Arab women.
“Tunisia is the only distinctive model concerning the promotion of women. By comparing the status of women in Tunisia and their counterparts in the Maghreb and the Gulf, we notice the difference”, said Mrs. Mouza Ghbash, a sociology Professor from the United Arab Emirates.
For her part, Mr. Riadh Zghal, a member of the House of Advisors, suggested that the only way to handle the violence against women issue is to diagnose all forms of violence as well as its causes in order to formulate an effective strategy.
