Canadian boat school docks at Hammamet’s marina
TUNISIAONLINENEWS- As part of the program “Class Afloat”, a Canadian boat school is now docking at the Hammamet marina.
The 60 m long sailing boat bearing the name “SV Concordia” is a living microcosm in itself with some 48 students from the Netherlands, Mexico, the United States, Germany, the Caribbean, and Canada, who have engaged in a global educational experience to develop their personal leadership and accountability in a community oriented environment.

Under the supervision of 8 instructors and 8 crew members, the students follow a marine biology instruction as well as the culture, and geography of the countries visited.
A magnificent life teaching experience which the students aged between 16 and 19 will never forget as they sail from port to port docking in 30 ports located in 20 countries throughout the world.
The SV Concordia’s itinerary prior to stopping over in Tunisia, is quite telling of its incredible voyage; having sailed respectively through Ireland, Portugal, France, Malta, and Turkey before hitting Tunisia’s gentle shores and unusual warm weather at this time of the year.
When it resumes its journey the sailing boat school will visit in turn Morocco, Senegal, Brazil, Bermuda, and Trinidad.
The “Class Afloat” program was founded in 1984 by the West Island College in Montreal. Since then more than a 1000 Canadian and international students have taken part in the program.
