Eighth Tunisian-Chinese joint committee meets in Beijing
The opening of the 8th session of the Tunisian-Chinese joint committee, held on July 5-6 in Beijing, was co-chaired by the Secretary of State in charge of Asian and American Affairs Saida Chtioui and the Chinese Deputy Minister for Trade, Fu Zining.
Mrs. Chtioui, who is leading a delegation representing different sectors of economic, technical and trading co-operation, highlighted, in her address, the importance of this session which takes place as the two countries’ relations are experiencing a new dynamics with the increase of visits from both sides.
She reviewed reforms carried out in Tunisia in all fields, under President Ben Ali’s leadership, which helped Tunisia achieve many gains,
underlining that the country enjoys today social peace and a very favorable economic and investment environment.
Praising the projects carried out thanks to the fruitful co-operation between Tunisia and China, the Secretary of State said Tunisia rightly appreciates the regular and constant Chinese support to its development work and wishes to intensify this co-operation.
The Chinese official commended, in turn, the excellent political relations and development of economic exchanges with Tunisia which he described as a major partner of China in its positioning in Africa and the Arab world.
Mr. Fu Zining expressed the Chinese Government’s readiness to further develop cooperation with Tunisia.
