Megrine launches new contemporary music festival
TUNISIAONLINENEWS- As part of the “Spring of the Child” festival, Mégrine , a small suburban town located south of Tunis, will host from March 23 to 26, the first edition of the “Days of Contemporary Music”, an initiative launched by the Tunisian artist, Souheil Cherni, in collaboration with cultural institutions in the region.
Bringing together musicians, music groups, artists, music teachers and academics, the event will be open to the general public, but especially to children, in a bid to familiarize them with the different varieties of contemporary music.

Pr. Jihène Fodha, will present on the opening day the “definition of contemporary music” and Mr. Souheil Cherni will hold a workshop on “Latin Jazz Music”.
On March 24, Pr. Syrine Oueslati will give music lessons in the nomenclature and system of contemporary music.
The event will also witness a presentation of Souheil Cherni, on “changes in musical trends” and a workshop on the “jazz of the 50s and 60s”, presented by Pr. Tantiana Tantchevan.
A teacher at the Tunis conservatory of music, Souheil Cherni said in an interview to TUNISIAONLINENEWS, that the new festival aims at becoming a contemporary music festival, adding that his event will be a timely opportunity for talented young musicians to showcase their latest works and artistic creations.
