President Ben Ali decides redeployment of TV airing rights of African Cup of Nations matches to Tunisian football teams
TUNISIAONLINENEWS- President Ben Ali decided today to redeploy the funds allocated to the television broadcasting rights of the matches of the 2010 African Cup of Nations estimated at 3 million dinars in favour of Tunisian football teams, so as to boost their activities and help improve the aptitude of young players.
The decision was taken during a meeting on Tuesday with the Minister of Youth Sports and Physical Education, Mr Samir Laabidi and Mr Oussama Romdhani, Interim Minister of Communications and Relations with the Chamber of Deputies and the Chamber of Advisors.
President Ben Ali highlighted the fact that in light of the unacceptable conditions following negotiations on TV airing rights of the matches of the Tunisian national football team, in addition to the exaggerated financial amount requested, national interest commands to use these funds in the service of youth and sports activities in Tunisia.
In a related event, President Ben Ali issued instructions with a view to facilitate the transportation of supporters, among young people from all over Tunisia to Angola, so as to support the national football team.
He also reiterated on this occasion his determination to ensure the necessary support to the players, as well as providing them with the best conditions of participation.
