President Ben Ali receives Tunisie-Télécom company CEO
President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali took interest, as he received on Friday morning Tunisie-Télécom company Chief Executive Officer Montacer Ouaili, in the enterprise’s activities and key strategic orientations meant to reinforce its competitiveness and ensure the quality and standards required from communication services to back up economic activity.
As part of following up the laying out of the first Tunisian underwater cable, which the Head of State had ordered, to enhance outside connection, the President of the Republic directed to kick start effective operation of this underwater cable named “Hannibal,” to link the city of Kelibia and Italian Mazara city.
The Head of State became acquainted with the technical characteristics of this new achievement and the prospects it opens up for international connection as regards vocal transmission, data transfer and Internet communication with a capacity that could reach 3200 Gigabytes/second.
This achievement is likely to contribute to stepping up the economic enterprises’ competitive edge and further strengthening Tunisia’s position within knowledge society.
The President of the Republic also focused attention on entering into operation of Tunisie-Télécom office in Paris, which will contribute to developing this company’s services at the international scale.(TAP)
