Tunisia: 43 new sites allocated to industrial areas
TUISIAONLINENEWS- The industrial land reserves and new sites proposed by the Tunisian Industrial Land Agency (AFI) in order to accommodate new industrial areas was the focus of a working session held on Thursday in Tunis.
The event was chaired by Mr. Slaheddine Malouche, Mr.Abdessalem Mansour and Mr.Afif Chelbi, respectively the Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Planning, the Minister for Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries and the Minister of Industry and technology.

“This meeting is in implementation of President Ben Ali’s decisions aiming at accelerating the pace of identifying industrial land reserves sites, to reach 6,000 hectares in each governorate”, said Slaheddine Malouche.
The Ministers of agriculture, water resources and fisheries and industry and technology, also called on parties concerned to finalize the procedures related to the land situation of land to host new industrial projects.
The Tunisian Industrial Land Agency (AFI) proposed 43 new sites for industrial areas, covering a total area of 2964 hectares, spread out over 9 governorates, namely the governorates of Manouba, Ben Arous, Nabeul, Beja, Sousse, Monastir, Mahdia Sfax and Kebili.
Tunisia has a total of 96 sites to host industrial zones extending over a total area of around 3969 hectares spread out over 23 governorates.
Tunisia’s goal is to reach 3,000 hectares by 2011and 6,000 hectares by 2016.
