Tunisia and France sign agreement to boost industrial cooperation
TUNISIAONLINENEWS- With a view to boosting Tunisian- French industrial cooperation, a three-year industrial cooperation agreement was signed, on Monday in Tunis, between both countries. This agreement provides the framework “for the development of industry-related institutional, technical and financial partnerships.”
The agreement was signed by Mr. Afif Chelbi, Minister of Industry and Technology, and Mr. Christian Estrosi, Minister of Industry, who is currently on a working visit to Tunisia.
“The new document translates the successful co-operation” between both countries said Mr. Chelbi”. He also stressed that the strategic study on Tunisian industry by 2016 had set ambitious targets, namely doubling its trade exchanges with the European Union (EU), particularly with France.
“The remarkable results scored by Tunisia in the industrial sector made of this country one of the most dynamic in the Mediterranean region”, said Mr. Estrosi who added that this success is thanks to “the Tunisian authorities’ intelligence, as they have been able to make the most of the co-operation tools made available to them.”
He also hailed both countries’ willingness to develop the sectors of activity where skills are complementary, specifying that these areas are contained in Tunisia’s industrial strategy by 2016, notably the food-processing, aeronautics, new information and communication technologies, biotechnology and textile sectors.
During the press meeting following the signing of the administrative accord, Mr. Estrosi stressed that after the economic crisis, “both countries will combine their efforts and involve the European Union” in their future projects.
