Tunisia boosts its solar systems
TUNISIAONLINENEWS- To sustain its ecological system, Tunisia has set up a solar plan dubbed TSP, which complies with the Mediterranean Solar Plan’s approach, characterized by encompassing all fields of energy efficiency and renewable energies.
TSP is part of an international program for the development of renewable energies, particularly Mediterranean Solar Plan’s, and others programs supported by the World Environment Fund (WEF) and the Clean Technologies Fund stemming from the World Bank.
TSP has planned to fulfill 40 projects as part of public-private partnership during the period 2010-2016.

It is expected that these projects will contribute to an annual energy saving of 660 kTep, representing 22% of overall reduction of national energy consumption by the year 2016.
Concerning the “avoided” quantity of CO2 of these projects, it is estimated at 1,300,000 tonnes/year, enabling revenues generated by Clean Development Mechanisms (CDM) worth 240 million dinars, approximately 130 Million euros for 10 years (on the basis of 10 Euros/tonne).
TSP comes as a confirmation of Tunisia’s ambition to become an international pole for solar energy, sustaining its energy production and exportation.
In this respect, several cooperation projects have already been launched, notably by the German and Italian cooperation authorities, namely GTZ and MEDREC, with Japan, the European Union and the UN Development Program.
