Tunisia elected as member of Executive Committee of World Anti-Doping Agency
TUNISIAONLINENEWS- Representing the African continent, Tunisia was recently elected as member of the Executive Committee of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), in replacement of South Africa.
Mr. Makhenkesi Stofil, South Africa’s Minister of Sports and entertainments is visiting Tunisia to finalize the procurement procedure.
Tunisia’s election took place during the meeting of the African Ministers of Sports held in Abuja on 15 and October 16, 2009.

On the occasion, a ceremony was organized on Monday, March 8. Respectively, South Africa’s Minister of Sport and entertainments as well as Mr. Samir Laabidi, Minister of Sport and Physical Education? took part in the event.
Mr. Samir Laabidi expressed the honor bestowed on Tunisia to represent African countries at the executive office of the Executive Committee of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) which includes 12 members representing, governments, and sports world such as the International Olympic Committee (OIC) and FIFA.
“Tunisia’s presence in the executive office of the WADA is an opportunity to bolster its position internationally. It testifies to President Ben Ali’s interest to the sector sport, particularly through the setting up of a medical-modern sports aiming at the fight against doping and the promotion of healthy sports”, said the Tunisian Minister of Sports.
For his part, South Africa’s Minister voiced his appreciation OF Tunisia’s achievements in the sports sector, the fight against doping, as well as in disseminating the noble values of sport.
