Tunisia plays host to 45th ordinary session of AAEA Executive Council

TUNISIAONLINENEWS- Works of the 45th ordinary session of the Executive Council of the Arab Atomic Energy Agency (AAEA) was launched on Tuesday in Tunis.

Mr. Abdelmajid Mahjoub, Director General of the Agency and representatives of member countries and the Arab League took part in the event.

Mr. Adel Trabelsi, Director General of National Centre for Nuclear Science and Technology (CNSTN) stressed that the meeting is an opportunity to examine projects and programs of the Agency for the years 2011 and 2012 relating to the Arab strategy for the peaceful exploitation of nuclear energy adopted by the Arab summit held in 2009.

Mr. Abdelmajid Mahjoub  emphasized the growing interest of Arab leaders in issues related to the peaceful use of nuclear energy and ways to diversify the uses of nuclear technology in various sectors as well as the creation of joint Arab projects.

He also emphasized that nuclear energy is an important choice for development.
