Tunisian-American cooperation in science, technology and health sectors
TUNISIAONLINENEWS- “Tunisian – American cooperation has witnessed so far a remarkable boost in many sectors, namely in science, technology and health”, said President Obama’s Special Envoy for sciences for the Gulf and North Africa, Mr. Elias Zerhouni, during his visit in Tunisia.
Mr. Zerhouni’s visit to Tunisia was part of a trip in North Africa and the Middle East to strengthen partnership in science and technology between USA and the Muslim world.

In this context, Mr. Bechir Tekkari Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research conferred on Tuesday in Tunis with, Mr. Elias Zerhouni.
The meeting focused on creating advanced research centers, reinforcing training in the English language training and consolidating ties between both countries.
He was also briefed on Tunisia’s potentials in skills, higher education and scientific research infrastructure, research laboratories and technological poles.
In a related event, Mr. Elias Zerhouni visited the Tunis Pasteur Institute where he was informed of the institution’s activities which has played the role of central public health laboratory and ensured epidemiological follow-up and research in human and animal health, in addition to services in biological diagnoses and specialized analyses.
The US Special Envoy stressed the need to boost bilateral cooperation in the areas of health, science and technology by strengthening bonds between scientific skills and identifying new partnership fields.
