A working session dedicated to monitoring development projects in the region and to reviving the Halib Bladi dairy plant was held on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at the headquarters of the Sousse governorate, presided over by the governor, Sofiane Tanfouri.

This meeting is part of the efforts undertaken to revive the Sidi Bou Ali industrial unit, which has been halted for several years, and to remove administrative and technical obstacles that had delayed its relaunch.

A field visit to the Sidi Bou Ali factory

The Governor of Sousse also conducted a field visit to the Sidi Bou Ali dairy plant, in the presence of the general manager of the company “Halib Bladi”, Karim Bououni, and the president of the Technical Support Unit at the Arab Authority for Investment and Agricultural Development, Dr. Omar Abdelkader Omar.

The visit took place with the participation of a delegation of experts from the Authority, the president of the Regional Council as well as the president and several members of the Local Council of Sidi Bou Ali.

The initial measures for an effective restart

On this occasion, Sofiane Tanfouri announced the launch of the first practical steps leading to the actual recommissioning of the company.

He stressed that this progress came after a long process of work and coordination aimed at overcoming all administrative and technical difficulties that had hindered the relaunch of the factory.

The governor also indicated that the dossier of the Sidi Bou Ali industrial unit was being monitored by the President of the Republic and directly supervised by the Presidency of the Government.

Several working sessions were thus organized, in coordination with regional and central authorities, in order to remove obstacles and to reach the creation of the company “Halib Bladi”.

An economic and social project for the region

The governor of Sousse stressed that reviving the factory was not merely an economic project.

According to him, it is also a project with a strong social dimension, intended to support regional development, create jobs and revitalize economic activity in Sidi Bou Ali and the surrounding areas.

The resumption of the plant should also help strengthen the dairy chain and support local producers.

A feasibility study to modernize the plant

For his part, the president of the Technical Support Unit at the Arab Authority for Investment and Agricultural Development explained that the visit aimed to prepare a comprehensive feasibility study on the relaunch and modernization of the project “Halib Bladi”.

He stated that the Authority might consider participating in the project once the necessary studies were completed.

Discussions also focus on ways to provide technical support, rehabilitate the plant’s equipment and modernize its facilities to adapt them to the current requirements of the dairy sector.
