The Tunisian stock market ended July 2026 on a positive note. According to the monthly bulletin of Arab financial markets from the Arab Monetary Fund, the Tunindex advanced by 0.88%, placing Tunis among the seven Arab markets up for the month. Behind this index increase, market activity nonetheless sent two opposing signals: more shares were traded, but for a lower overall value.
The essentials for July
Tunindex : +0.88%
Capitalization : +0.45% to 16.617 billion dollars
Value of transactions : -3.66% to 184.8 million dollars

Tunis among rising Arab markets
With a gain of 0.88%, the Tunis Stock Exchange is among the rising Arab markets in July, though it did not top the rankings.
The Egyptian Exchange leads with a rise of 5.85%, ahead of Amman (+3.64%), Iraq (+2.13%), Damascus (+1.82%) and Abu Dhabi (+1.13%). Kuwait also shows a gain of 0.58%. Conversely, seven other Arab markets ended the month lower.
| Rank | Market | Change in July |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Egypt | +5.85% |
| 2 | Amman | +3.64% |
| 3 | Iraq | +2.13% |
| 4 | Damascus | +1.82% |
| 5 | Abu Dhabi | +1.13% |
| 6 | Tunis | +0.88% |
| 7 | Kuwait | +0.58% |
On a regional scale, the Arab Monetary Fund’s composite index, which currently covers 16 Arab markets, declined by 0.19% in July.
A slight increase in capitalization
The capitalization of the Tunis Stock Exchange also rose during the month.
It rose from about 16.542 billion dollars at the end of June to 16.617 billion dollars at the end of July, or a monthly increase of 0.45%.
This evolution accompanies the rise of the Tunindex, while remaining relatively modest on a monthly basis.
More shares traded, but less capital
It is on the market activity side that July presents the most peculiar configuration.
The number of shares traded in Tunis rose by 13.38%, moving from about 28.31 million shares in June to 32.10 million in July.
Meanwhile, the total value of transactions fell by 3.66%, dropping from about 191.8 million dollars to 184.8 million dollars.
In other words, a larger number of shares were traded during the month, while the total amount exchanged decreased.
This divergence between volume and value is one of July’s notable features. However, it is not sufficient, by itself, to determine the exact nature of the transactions or the values that explain this evolution.
The signal to watch
In July, the number of shares traded rose by 13.38%, while the total value of transactions fell by 3.66%. This divergence is one of the main elements to monitor to understand the Tunis Stock Exchange’s activity evolution.
A regional trend also marked by the decline in transactions
On the scale of all Arab markets followed by the Arab Monetary Fund, the value of transactions fell by 16.82% in July, to about 90.24 billion dollars, versus 108.48 billion in June.
At the same time, the total volume of traded shares rose by 28.82%, to nearly 261.86 billion shares.
The configuration observed in Tunis thus fits into a regional environment where value and volume of trades did not necessarily move in the same direction.
Taken in isolation, July’s snapshot shows the Tunis Stock Exchange advancing modestly, with capitalization rising, a larger volume of shares traded, but a retreat in the value of transactions.
