The Tataouine Governorate announced on its official page that, as part of monitoring the progress of public projects in the region and accelerating their completion, the Governor of Tataouine, Amir Gabsi, presided, on Thursday, September 3, 2026, in the presence of the Regional Director of Equipment and Housing, over a meeting of the regional commission tasked with speeding up the execution of public projects.
The meeting was devoted to monitoring the progress of public projects related to civil buildings, bridges and roads, as well as civil building projects still at the study stage. The objective was to assess their level of progress, identify difficulties hindering completion of some within the prescribed deadlines, and examine the proposed solutions. In this framework, several dossiers on the agenda were examined.
Regarding the construction of the link between Tataouine and the Medenine–Ras Jedir A1 motorway, the works of Lot No. 1 have been completed 100% and have undergone provisional acceptance. The progress rate of Lot No. 2 has, however, reached 91%.
With regard to the studies related to national projects, these concern notably the project to create a belt road around the city of Tataouine, of which the preliminary study is awaiting approval, as well as eight other projects. In some cases, the studies have already been completed and funding is being sought, or the projects are still at the study stage or at the stage of preparing bidding documents.
At the level of studies on regional projects, ten projects are involved. Some have reached the stage of elaborating the bid evaluation report, while others are the subject of a new call for bids or are at the stage of opening credits and launching studies.
Moreover, the Governor of Tataouine indicated that by the end of August, the governorate was ranked first nationwide in terms of credit utilization, with a commitment rate of 52% and a payment rate of 49%.
He stated that these results show a clear progression in the execution of projects with a regional character, praising on this occasion the efforts made by the administrations and regional structures that contributed to reaching this ranking.
