Eliminated by Palmeiras in the Brazilian Cup quarterfinals (0-3, 0-0), Santos also lost Neymar, the 34-year-old, to injury.

Struck in the thigh and substituted at halftime, the Brazilian star did not hide his sadness at the catastrophic state of Vila Belmiro’s pitch, which largely contributed to the physical issues his team faced.

“What a shitty job!”
Neymar blasted the club employee, asserting that he was partly responsible for the physical problems his team had faced: “I wanted to congratulate the person in charge of Vila Belmiro’s pitch. Yesterday, it was the worst pitch the club had ever known, full of holes. In addition to playing against the opponent, we were playing against the pitch. No wonder three players were injured in the first half. Bravo, really… What a shitty job!”, Neymar wrote on Instagram.

Struck in the thigh, Neymar will undergo examinations and “hopes it’s not serious.” He is under contract until December 2026.
