The German city of Essen will host, on September 17 and 18 of the current year, the first Tunisian-German Economic Forum organized in the city, an initiative aimed at strengthening decentralized cooperation and opening up new prospects for economic partnership between Tunisia and Essen.
According to a statement published on Tuesday by the Consulate General of Tunisia in Düsseldorf, the forum willbring together representatives from public structures, economic enterprises, the private sector, and economic stakeholders from both countries.
Participants will examine opportunities for cooperation and investment in several sectors, including health and care services, skills, digital innovation, industry and ecological transition.
Strengthening Economic Partnerships
The organization of this forum for the first time in Essen marks a new step in the development of decentralized cooperation between Tunisia and the German city.
The meeting should also aim to strengthen direct exchanges between public structures, economic actors and companies from both sides, with the objective of fostering the emergence of partnerships and joint projects.
The forum is taking place within the framework of celebrating the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Tunisia and Germany. The exchanges will notably focus on identifying new opportunities for economic cooperation and building long-term partnerships.
Several officials expected at the opening
The forum proceedings will be opened by the Mayor of Essen, Thomas Kufen, the Tunisian Ambassador to Berlin, Wassim Chihi, as well as the Tunisian Consul General in Düsseldorf, Mustapha Zriri.
Essen, an important German economic hub
Essen is one of the leading German cities. It is located at the heart of the Ruhr metropolitan region, in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, in western Germany.
Nicknamed the “secret capital of the Ruhr” due to its central position and its economic and cultural weight, Essen hosts the headquarters of several major German companies, notably in the energy sector and in municipal services.
The city’s economy has also undergone a profound restructuring, with a growing emphasis on services and trade.
