The Governorate of Mahdia announced on its official page that a joint inspection team carried out, this Wednesday, September 23, 2026, the seizure of 4.7 tonnes of chicken and expired derivative products within a company specializing in the production, slaughter, and marketing of poultry products in the region.
This joint control operation took place in the presence of the Governor of Mahdia as well as officials and staff from the Regional Directorate of Trade, the Regional Office of the National Authority for Sanitary Safety of Food Products, and the National Guard.
The economic control team from the Regional Directorate of Trade prepared a report noting, in particular, the absence of periodic verification of weighing instruments, as well as the monitoring of commercial transactions and the purchasing and selling operations carried out by the inspected company.
For their part, the services of the National Authority for Sanitary Safety of Food Products noted several infractions within the same company, notably exceeding the expiry date, the absence of a sanitary visa, the absence of indications of production and expiry dates, as well as the storage of products under conditions not in compliance with hygiene rules. The lack of product traceability was also observed.
Furthermore, a report was established for possession of products presenting a risk to sanitary safety. The National Authority for Sanitary Safety of Food Products must initiate the necessary legal procedures for the destruction of the seized products.
