The European Commission announced today the imposition of anti-dumping duties on imports into the EU of pea protein from China, one of the world’s largest producers of pea protein.
The final anti-dumping duties imposed will range from 40.5% to 67.1% and will be applied for five years. Provisional duties had already been in force since April 29, 2026.
“The imposition of these final duties follows an investigation that concluded that imports of pea protein from China were entering the EU market at dumped prices, thereby causing harm to the European industry. The European pea protein market is worth around €175 million,” the Commission said.
And it added that pea proteins are used as an alternative to animal proteins, for both human consumption and animal feed. They can be consumed directly or serve as an ingredient in the manufacture of foods and beverages intended for human consumption. They are also used in pet foods, specialty pet foods, and aquaculture feed.
