The temperatures are expected to exceed seasonal norms across the entire Tunisian territory during the months of October, November and December 2026, according to the seasonal forecasts bulletin published on Tuesday by the National Institute of Meteorology (INM), TAP reports.
INM notes that this quarter traditionally marks the transition to autumn and winter, with a gradual decline in temperatures and an increase in precipitation, especially in the north and the central-eastern region. According to the 1991-2020 reference climate normals, temperatures vary from 12 to 18 °C in the north and central regions, and from 16 to 19 °C in the south, the lowest values usually recorded at Thala.
Rainfall slightly above average in some areas
For precipitation, seasonal forecast models do not reveal a clear and dominant trend for the whole country, INM notes. They nevertheless indicate rainfall totals slightly above the usual averages in certain regions.
According to the 1991-2020 normals, the totals for this quarter vary from 122 to 443 mm in the north and coastal regions, from 55 to 102 mm in the center-west, and from 30 to 97 mm in the south. Tabarka usually records the highest amounts.
Month-by-month normals
October : 17 to 23 °C in the north and center, 22 to 24 °C in the south; 38 to 84 mm of rain in the north (116 mm in Tabarka), generally less than 55 mm in the center and the south.
November : 11 to 18 °C in the north and center, 15 to 19 °C in the south; 39 to 96 mm in the north (160 mm in Tabarka), 21 to 41 mm in the center, generally less than 34 mm in the south.
December : 7 to 14 °C in the north and center, 11 to 15 °C in the south; more than 100 mm in the extreme north (161 mm in Tabarka), 14 to 47 mm in the center, generally less than 32 mm in the south.
