Tunis Stock Exchange: Tunindex Falls 0.34%, BIAT Accounts for 48% of Market Capitalization

The Tunis Stock Exchange closed the session on Friday, October 9, 2026 in the red. The Tunindex fell by 0.34% to 18,604.24 points, penalized notably by banking stocks. Trading volumes reached 7 million dinars, with nearly half of the market’s equity capital concentrated in BIAT. No block trades were recorded.

Banks weigh on the trend

The market’s decline was particularly pronounced in the banking sector. Its index fell by 0.70%, while the index of financial companies declined by 0.58%.

The banking sector accounts for 58.07% of the Tunindex’s weighting, which explains its significant influence on the evolution of the overall index.

The session, however, revealed mixed movements across sectors. The retail sector advanced by 1.91%, household products and personal care by 1.06%, construction materials by 0.89% and financial services by 0.68%.

Despite Friday’s decline, the Tunindex remains up by 38.32% since the start of 2026, compared with 36.22% for the Tunindex20.

Top 5: ESSOUKNA and BH Leasing lead the gains

According to the official rankings of the Tunis Stock Exchange (BVMT), ESSOUKNA tops the gainers, ahead of BH Leasing and ARTES.
