The Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) has urged banks and financial institutions to redouble their efforts to ensure the financing necessary for the various participants in the olive sector, on the occasion of the start of the 2026-2027 olive harvesting campaign.

In a note addressed to banks and financial institutions, the BCT stressed that this initiative falls within its ongoing commitment to support productive sectors, economic development, and investment promotion.

The institution has thus invited the banking sector to mobilize the necessary financing to guarantee the best possible conditions for the success of the olive campaign, while ensuring an improvement in the quality of banking services offered to the various operators in the sector.

The Central Bank also emphasized the need to make financing of the olive sector a permanent commitment, integrated into a sustainable strategy.

In this perspective, it called on banks and financial institutions to provide farmers, oil mill operators, and exporters with the liquidity needed to meet their financing needs at all stages of the activity.

Thus, these financings should cover the entire production and marketing chain, from olive harvesting and crushing to storage and the export of olive oil.
