CAF Champions League: Thanks to Ben Said, Espérance Secures Swehly and a Place in the Quarterfinals

Six days after its defeat (1-0) in the first leg in Misurata, Espérance de Tunis defeated the Libyan Swehly (1-0) this Saturday evening in Radès for the return match of the second and final qualifying round of the CAF Champions League.

Without rushing, the Espérance players managed to score fairly early thanks to Imed Farraj (8′) to avoid the pressure and above all to make the opponent doubt.

The “Blood and Gold” found themselves ahead in front of a situation they had not known for a very long time, since the goal conceded in the first leg was theoretically recoverable, but on the field the mission was more complicated, until the end of the match.

The penalty shootout gave the Espérance players the edge (3-1) to brilliantly qualify for the quarterfinals, as first Tunisian representative, while awaiting Club Africain tomorrow against TP Mazembe.

It should be recalled that since 2017 Espérance has represented Tunisia in the final phase of the CAF Champions League. This is for the 24th time, a record.
