Egypt will host, from June 25 to 27, 2026, the first edition of the African Business Forum in the city of Al-Alamein, according to a communiqué published on Sunday, May 3 by the Egyptian presidency.

The event, co-organized with Afreximbank and AUDA-NEPAD, will bring together more than 20 heads of state and government representatives, as well as senior officials of international financial institutions and major economic players on the continent.

In continuation of this announcement, the organizers indicate that the meeting aims to establish a platform bringing together public decision-makers and private sector leaders around African economic priorities. « The objective is to become the main event where political power meets entrepreneurial capability, » says the forum’s official website, emphasizing the connection between traditional growth sectors and the new structuring activities.

This orientation is part of a continental context marked by high needs for financing and productive transformation. The discussions will focus on sectors deemed strategic, notably infrastructure, intra-African trade, critical minerals, digital innovation, health and emerging industries.

No total investment amount has been disclosed at this stage by the organizers or partner institutions.

On the sidelines of the preparations, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi held talks with the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Sidi Ould Tah, about the role of the institution in supporting African economies.

The Egyptian head of state stressed that current economic and geopolitical developments reinforce the need to mobilize financial resources and technical support for the benefit of the continent’s countries.

In this perspective, discussions also covered the partnership between Egypt and the AfDB, including ongoing projects and the preparation of a new cooperation strategy aligned with the country’s Vision 2030. The Egyptian president highlighted the importance of the private sector and cross-border infrastructure projects, which he regards as essential to strengthen regional integration and facilitate the exchange of goods and people.

The president of the AfDB reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to continuing its cooperation with Egypt, within a framework aimed at supporting national economic priorities and integration dynamics at the continental scale.
