In Algeria, the National Agency for the Valorization of Hydrocarbon Resources (ALNAFT) announced the grant of a prospecting authorization to the global company British Petroleum (BP), as part of its ongoing strategy to increase the attractiveness of Algeria’s mining sector and unlock new exploration opportunities with a mining domain covering more than 1.7 million square kilometers that offers vast under-explored areas with significant potential.
“In a context shaped by rapid technological advances, ALNAFT is fostering a new dynamic driven by innovation and the integration of advanced exploration technologies, aimed at improving subsurface knowledge and opening up new development horizons,” states an ALNAFT press release.
It adds that the authorization granted to BP focuses on the eastern basin and reflects a shared ambition to deploy cutting-edge technologies in exploration operations, thereby enhancing understanding of the region’s energy potential.
The Algerian agency noted that BP’s return to Algeria sends a strong signal of renewed confidence on the part of international investors in the country’s mining sector and within the framework of the partnership promoted by ALNAFT.
