Named to lead the Greens, the new staff composed of Brahim Hemdani and Anthar Yahia would have signed until AFCON 2027 with a specific sporting objective.
According to local information, Brahim Hemdani is expected to receive a monthly salary of around 8 million dinars, about 53 000 euros. A substantial upgrade for the 48-year-old technician, holder of a qualification equivalent to UEFA Pro, who previously earned around 8 000 euros when he was in charge of the youth selection.
For his part, Anthar Yahia, 44 years old and holder of UEFA A, is expected to earn around 6 million dinars per month, about 40 000 euros. The payment terms have not yet been specified, notably regarding the currency in which the two technicians will receive their remuneration.
A contract until AFCON 2027 with the semi-finals as the objective
According to the same source, Hemdani and Yahia would be tied to the end of AFCON 2027, with the minimum objective of reaching the semi-finals. Qualification to the semi-finals would open the way to an extension until the 2028 edition.
This choice comes a few days after the greatest success of Hemdani’s young coaching career. At the head of the U21s, the former Marseille midfielder won the gold medal at the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games by defeating Tunisia 2-0 in the final. Algeria had not won the men’s football tournament since its 1975 crown, i.e., 51 years of waiting. This result strengthened the credibility of his candidacy at a time when the FAF was seeking a quick solution after Vladimir Petkovic’s departure.
