According to the Tunisian Centre for Export Promotion (CEPEX), trade with Algeria has risen by 166% over the last five years, reaching $2.76 billion in value.
CEPEX presented these figures at a meeting among economic operators of the two countries held in Algiers. The event took place as part of a business mission organized by CONECT International and the Algerian Employers’ Confederation (CAP), from September 22 to 24, 2026.
It was recalled on the occasion that bilateral exchanges are boosted by a customs reduction of up to 40%, a provision provided by the bilateral preferential trade agreement. In addition to exemptions provided by the conventions on the Arab Free Trade Zone (GZALE).
The trade balance was not disclosed, what is known is that Algerian exports to the Jasmine country are essentially in the sectors of industry and energy. As for goods shipped from Tunisia to Algeria, they are mainly products of mechanical and electrical industries (56.53%), various manufacturing industries (31.53%) and agro-food products (7.05%).
Regarding investments, the same source indicated that 43 Tunisian companies operate in Algeria, in various sectors: 30% in mechanical and electrical, 23% in services, 16% in textiles and the same figure for agriculture. The number of Algerian companies active in Tunisia was not specified.
The General Director of the Algerian Agency for Investment Promotion (AAPI), Omar Rekkache, who participated in the working meeting, said that his organization is ready to support Tunisian investors in identifying investment opportunities on the Algerian market. The AAPI promises to facilitate the procedures to realize their projects in Algeria, a task in which it is highly effective.
