The Minister of Equipment and Habitat, Slah Zouari, will present tomorrow, Tuesday, February 24, to the local elected officials of Sijoumi the “integrated strategy for the development and layout of the shores of Sabkhet Sijoumi“, after having presented it to the municipal councils of Tunis.
Deputy Hosni Maraï and Zied Yahyaoui urged transforming this Sabkhet, a source of environmental pollution, into a space for tourism, culture, sport and ecology. They call for making it a “natural lung” for residents and visitors.
Designed by a study firm, in partnership with the ministry, the project aims to develop 700 hectares, with green spaces, leisure infrastructures, water treatment facilities and sustainable routes, according to Mosaïque this Monday.
The aim is to protect the environment, clean up the area and anchor the Sabkha to the growth of the surrounding neighborhoods, within a modern urban framework that offers prospects for public-private partnerships.
