Bar Association: Military Operations in the Middle East Threaten a Broad Regional Conflict

The Bar Council of the Tunisian National Order of Lawyers has called on international organizations, led by the United Nations, as well as rights defenders around the world, to exert pressure to end the aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran and the military operations that have expanded to the point of threatening the security of Arab states.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Council, reflecting on the evolution of events in the Middle East following the American and Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, warned that “these war operations threaten a generalized regional conflict whose limits and consequences may not necessarily be controllable.”

The Bar Council stated that “the direct assassination of officials of a sovereign state constitutes a new war crime by the Zionist regime and a terrorist act committed with the direct complicity of its ally and protector, the United States of America,” urging bar associations and lawyers’ unions as well as rights organizations to undertake broad mobilizations to condemn this aggression.
