Deputy Jamai Zouaidi, responsible for communication at the National Council for Regions and Districts, confirmed, in an exclusive statement to Tunisia Digital, that the Development Plan 2026–2030 is now finalized. The document is currently awaiting presentation before a Council of Ministers, before its transmission to the two chambers of Parliament for review.
A step awaited in the Council of Ministers before parliamentary review
According to Jamai Zouaidi, the Development Plan project should be submitted in the very near future to the bicameral Parliament. He clarified that the Ministry of Economy has spent about eight months studying the document, since receiving its initial version transmitted by the elected structures.
“The Ministry of Economy has taken nearly eight months since receiving the initial version of the Development Plan emanating from the elected structures. I therefore think the plan will be very soon, probably during this month, on the table of the two chambers of Parliament, marking the launch of the marathon of work,” he said.
Examination underway within the elected structures
The deputy also stated that the members of the National Council for Regions and Districts are currently examining the preliminary version prepared by the elected structures, namely the local, regional, and district councils. This phase aims to prepare a thorough review of the project when it officially arrives at Parliament.
The procedural path of the Development Plan
Procedurally, Jamai Zouaidi explained that after the project is adopted by the Assembly of the People’s Representatives, the text will be transmitted to the National Council for Regions and Districts for continued examination and final approval, before its entry into force.
