AS Monaco has until August 19 to seize CNOSF and thus hope for readmission to Betclic Elite next season.
This is not football but basketball. To date, the Roca Team has still not filed with CNOSF to demand readmission to Betclic Elite as decided by the DNCCG and confirmed by the federation’s appellate chamber. Time is running out. The Principality’s club has until August 19 to file with the Committee. Up to now, only one potential buyer was on track and hoped to complete his dossier to validate his arrival: Jamal Mashburn and his Helen Holdings consortium. But so far, the dossier is stalling…
According to information from L’Équipe, Oleksiy Yefimov, the ASM’s executive director, received on Monday evening an email containing a letter of intent for potential investment. The recipient? The Andorran fund Clayton Sport, owner of FC Andorra’s football club (Spanish second division) with several personalities such as Gerard Piqué, Maverick Viñales and Qinwen Zheng among its ranks. And that is not all. Ronaldinho is one, if not the headlining figure, of this project.
Better guarantees?
According to information from L’Équipe, the dossier presented by the Brazilian appears solid with an immediate capacity to repay the Roca Team’s debt to the Euroleague and to present the amount requested in first demand to the DNCCG. Another element tipping in favor of the project presented Monday night is that Ronaldinho and Clayton Sport would be willing to commit for three to five years at ten million euros per season. And this information particularly pleases the Principality, which hopes for a long-term buyer. At first glance, the project launched by the former PSG player seems more solid than the other. On the other hand, the Jamal Mashburn project and his Helen Holdings consortium is not fully fleshed out, particularly regarding the commitment aspect.
Regardless, a few days before the deadline, AS Monaco has two options on the table. It remains to be seen now which direction the club and the Principality will take.
