Ennahda Movement Condemns 10-Year Prison Sentence Imposed on Nordin Berhiri
On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, the Ennahda movement released a public statement denouncing the recent court ruling against Nordin Berhiri. The verdict, issued by an appeals court yesterday, sentenced Berhiri—a prominent lawyer, former Minister of Justice, and Deputy Chairman of Ennahda—to ten years in prison over a social media post.
The Court’s Ruling as Unjust and Arbitrary
The movement described the court decision as both unfair and unjust. They emphasized that “this sham trial” clearly proves Berhiri’s innocence regarding the allegations against him. Ennahda is calling for the immediate release of all political detainees and the halting of politically motivated prosecutions. The movement also demands an end to all violations of both public and individual freedoms.”
