Espérance Sportive de Tunis has called on its supporters, who will be attending on Sunday at the Hammadi-Agrebi Stadium in Radès for the match against Al Ahly of Egypt, to avoid any disorder, notably the lighting of smoke bombs or the throwing of projectiles. Such behavior could lead to sanctions likely to deprive the team of the support of its fans during upcoming matches and to affect its chances in the competition.
In a statement, Espérance Sportive de Tunis reminded that the club is threatened with severe sanctions from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), whether financial penalties or matches played behind closed doors, in the event of new incidents related to the use of smoke devices or the throwing of various projectiles onto the pitch during the matches of the current edition of the CAF Champions League.
The statement specifies:
“On this basis, and in light of the behind-closed-doors sanctions recently imposed by the Confederation of African Football on several clubs, we insist, in the event of qualification — God willing — for the semi-finals, that our team not be deprived of its supporters, of their massive backing and of their decisive backing for the rest of the matches in this continental competition.”
