A Ligue 1 referee in France, whose name has not been disclosed, will appear before the Nîmes court on August 7 for acts of domestic violence against his partner, with whom he has been in a relationship for four years.
The complainant accuses him of having “grabbed her by the neck, pulling her by the arms and by the hair” in March, then “pulling her by the arm, grabbing her by the shoulders and slamming her against a wall” in May, according to L’Equipe.
Eric Borghini, the lawyer for the French referee and former president of the federation’s arbitration commission, recalls that his client “fully benefits from the presumption of innocence.”
In front of investigators, he reportedly mentioned “reciprocal aggressions” in “a context of high tension in the couple.”
Contacted by the daily, the FFF states that it “does not have official information on this case.”
