The Minister of Trade and Export Development, Samir Abid, stated today, during a field visit to the central market of Tunis, that the economic control brigades are mobilized and fully ready, at any moment and throughout the day, to confront all violations and practices undermining the transparency of commercial transactions.
He underscored the importance of the citizens’ role in supporting the ministry’s efforts and contributing to the preservation of purchasing power by reporting any observed violations.
The minister, furthermore, urged merchants to respect prices, to ensure their stability and to take purchasing power into account, while protecting the health of citizens by selling products that comply with hygiene rules and consumer safety standards.
Samir Abid also responded to complaints from some citizens, centered on the artificial rise in prices of certain products, notably red meat, as well as on practices deemed contrary to the transparency of commercial transactions observed among some merchants. Some citizens, however, believed that the prices of other products, notably vegetables and fruits, remain acceptable and within reach of everyone.
