The effective commissioning of the mobile emergency and medical resuscitation unit began this Thursday, February 12, 2026, in Méjez El Bab, in the Béja Governorate, as part of the Ministry of Health’s efforts to strengthen the system of urgent medical assistance and to accelerate the management of critical cases.
This new unit operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to ensure rapid and continuous intervention for the benefit of citizens.
Emergency interventions at home and on the roads
The mobile unit provides urgent medical interventions at home, at workplaces, as well as on public roads, notably following road traffic accidents and other critical situations.
This system aims to improve prehospital care, stabilize patients’ condition, and optimize the care provided before their transfer to hospital facilities.
A project included in the modernization of emergency medicine
According to the ministry, this initiative is part of a program to develop emergency medicine and bring health services closer to citizens.
The unit has been equipped with modern medical equipment and guided by specialized healthcare teams, in order to guarantee rapid and effective intervention in case of an emergency.
A strengthening of the regional rescue framework
With this new structure, health authorities aim to reduce intervention times and improve the survival chances of patients in critical condition.
The commissioning of this mobile unit thus represents a significant strengthening of the regional emergency and medical assistance system in Méjez El Bab and across the Béja Governorate.
