The Minister of National Defense, Khaled Sehili, shared, on the evening of Wednesday, February 25, 2026, the iftar meal with the soldiers stationed at the Kandar military base. He extended his greetings to them on the occasion of Ramadan, in the presence of several military personnel of different ranks, including officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers.

Field visit and monitoring of deployed units

On this occasion, the minister inquired about the missions and components of the military units stationed at the base. He also learned about the working and living conditions of the soldiers assigned there.

Infrastructure: progress of works and planned projects

Khaled Sehili also noted the progress of the works and planned projects related to infrastructure. These arrangements, according to the same source, aim to provide an appropriate environment enabling the military personnel to carry out their missions in the best possible conditions.

Tribute to the military facing difficult conditions

The minister expressed his gratitude to all the military personnel, especially those deployed in the field, who face harsh weather and natural conditions.

He praised their efforts and sacrifices to defend the homeland, protect its gains, and perform their duty with devotion, discipline and commitment. He emphasized that these principles are shared by all members of the national army and constitute the foundations of their military doctrine.

Moving toward 2030: training, technology and international cooperation

The minister stressed that monitoring geostrategic shifts and technological evolutions should not be a short-term or ad hoc approach, but a sustainable orientation. The objective, he specified, is to reinforce the operational readiness of personnel, in line with the strategic objectives set for 2030.

This involves developing and modernizing training and exercise programs, integrating modern technologies, greater use of international cooperation and the study of comparative experiences, in order to anticipate changes and face the challenges.

Morale support and improvement of living conditions

During the visit, Khaled Sehili urged the command leadership to be more attentive to the concerns of their subordinates, to reinforce attention to troop morale, and to consolidate the values of love of country and loyalty to Tunisia.

He recalled the ministry’s commitment to improving the working and living conditions of personnel and to strengthening social support.

An army as a factor of stability and a symbol of unity

Finally, the minister urged the military to continue fulfilling their mission “with honor and loyalty,” in the same national spirit, remaining attached to the principles and values instilled by the military institution, so that the national army remains a factor of stability, a symbol of unity and a guarantor of national sovereignty.
