The Ministry of Health announced, this Saturday, that the medical team at Haj Ali Soua Regional Hospital in Ksar Hellal successfully carried out a delicate surgical procedure consisting of the complete removal of the sigmoid colon by laparoscopy, without the need for an open abdominal incision.

In a statement, the ministry indicated that this achievement represents an important step in the development of laparoscopic surgery in the inland regions. It also testifies to the skills of health personnel in the regions, as part of the ministry’s efforts to support regional hospitals with modern equipment and to strengthen medical specialties in order to bring advanced health services closer to citizens across the country.

The ministry specified that this intervention was performed under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Taha Abdelkafi, with the participation of the medical and paramedical staff of the establishment. This modern technique helps reduce postoperative pain, accelerate the recovery period, limit complications, and shorten the length of hospital stay.
