The Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) announced that Walid Kaïba, governor of Kef, presided, alongside Fayçal Trifa, Chief Executive Officer of the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company, on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, the inauguration ceremony of the high-voltage electrical transformation substation in the Oued Rmel region, Kef Governorate.
The ceremony took place in the presence of several governorate officials as well as central and regional managers of the company.
The substation operates at a voltage of 225/33 kilovolts (kV) and connects the Kef city’s high-voltage transformation substation to the Tajerouine and Jendouba substations, via modern overhead lines.
It includes two main transformers, each with a capacity of 40 megavolt-amperes (MVA), as well as electrical switchgear cells intended for connection and measurement, and a double overhead line.
This project constitutes a significant contribution to strengthening the electrical infrastructure in Kef Governorate. It will help improve the quality and reliability of electricity supply in the region and surrounding areas, while supporting investment and economic development.
The CEO also conducted an inspection visit to the STEG Kef district.
