Libya: New Project to Recover 15 Million Cubic Feet of Gas Per Day

In Libya, the National Oil Corporation (NOC) hailed the success of Mellitah Oil & Gas in implementing the gas exploitation project at the KK station, whose pilot commissioning operations began this morning.

The significance of this project lies in recovering all associated gas volumes originating from the station’s wells, estimated at 15 million cubic feet per day. These quantities are conveyed by a 40-kilometer-long gas pipeline to the Abu Attifel field, where they are processed in a natural gas liquefaction unit.

The gas is then directed to the Zueitina hub before being connected to the coastal network, thereby helping to strengthen the supply of the national energy network and to meet the needs of the local market.

Beyond its economic importance for boosting production and reinforcing sustainable operation, the project also represents a major step in reducing emissions and protecting the environment.

It is part of the National Oil Corporation’s strategy to achieve the target of “zero gas flaring” by 2030.
