National Environmental Protection Agency Unveils Smart Ecological System for Advanced Digital Management

The National Environmental Protection Agency announced the launch of a new methodology aimed at achieving a qualitative leap in its digital activities, transitioning from a fragmented management approach based on paper documents to an intelligent and integrated environmental information system.

This system enables the digitization, processing and value-adding of environmental data across the entire Tunisian territory, thereby providing a more precise understanding of the different pathways and improving management efficiency. It also enables the establishment of a unified environmental database that supports decision-making and strengthens the transparency of environmental work.

The launch of this strategy takes place within the framework of the Agency’s commitment to the strategic orientation towards digital transformation, the modernization of public administration and the strengthening of governance to respond quickly to the challenges posed, while improving the quality of services offered to citizens and businesses.

This turning point also fits into an approach aimed at guaranteeing sustainable development and increasing the competitiveness of the national economy.

The methodology presented on Friday to the ministry rests on several fundamental axes, notably full digitization, generative artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, blockchain, data security and interoperability.

The strategy was presented by the Minister of the Environment, Habib Abid, in the presence of the Agency’s Director General, Mohamed Naceur Jeljeli, as well as representatives of the Presidency of the Government, the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the Ministry of Finance and members of the Agency’s board of directors.
