The Financial Market Council (CMF) announced on Monday, October 5, 2026, the launch of a practical guide dedicated to preventing online scams and strengthening investor vigilance. The regulator also opens, on its website, a section dedicated to its warnings.
According to a CMF press release, this guide gathers a series of practical recommendations intended for investors as well as the general public. It is designed to help them recognize online fraud and solicitation methods, to verify the information and investment offers they receive, and to avoid becoming victims of fraudulent practices aimed at their savings.
The stated objective is to strengthen savers’ ability to assess what is proposed to them on the Internet and to make investment decisions that are more prudent and more aware of the risks. The regulator notes, in this regard, the rapid evolution of financial markets and the increasing use of digital tools and platforms to inform themselves about investing.
An “Alerts and Vigilance” Section on the Regulator’s Website
The CMF has also announced the creation, on its website, of a new section dedicated to alerts and vigilance. It will serve to publish and collate warnings and cautions issued by the institution regarding practices, offers and entities likely to pose risks for investors or for the public.
This space is intended, according to the Council, to be a reference allowing market participants and the public to consult its cautions regularly, in order to better check the offers and to decide with greater prudence.
The launch of the guide coincides with CMF’s participation in World Investor Week, held from October 5 to 11, 2026. Organized by the International Organization of Securities Commissions, with the cooperation of regulatory authorities and partner organizations around the world, this awareness campaign aims to promote investor education and protection. The 2026 edition marks the tenth anniversary of this initiative.
The Council also states that it will continue its efforts in financial literacy and investor protection, as well as its cooperation with the different stakeholders, in order to support the evolution of financial markets and the digital environment and to strengthen market integrity and the confidence of participants.
