On the sidelines of GITEX Africa, a Tunisian innovative solution is attracting attention: thanks to sensors-equipped smart insoles and a connected platform, it enables detecting mobility problems before they occur, for both seniors and athletes.

During GITEX Africa in Marrakech, Tunisie Numérique met Kawthar Dhahbi, CPO of E Steps Health, a startup present in the United States, Italy and Tunisia, in touch.

She explained that the idea was initially conceived for seniors to prevent mobility problems thanks to sensor-equipped smart insoles.

These insoles allow detecting anomalies and preventing risks of injuries or falls. All data can be accessed via a connected platform that links the patient and the doctor, thus enabling personalized and proactive monitoring.

The initial objective was to improve the quality of life for seniors by anticipating mobility-related risks,” explains Kawthar Dhahbi.

Expansion into professional sports

Today, the startup has extended its innovation into the sports domain. The smart insoles allow:

  • to detect knee and joint problems
  • to measure performance according to each foot
  • to monitor the athlete’s general health via a detailed AI-powered dashboard
  • to anticipate behavior and performance in the next match

Thanks to this combination of sensors and artificial intelligence, athletes and their coaches can now prevent injuries, optimize performance, and plan training with greater precision than ever before.

A connected and intelligent future

This solution perfectly illustrates how Tunisian technology is contributing to transforming sport and health, by offering advanced analytics and preventive tools. According to Kawthar Dhahbi, the future is already here: “Thanks to AI, we can anticipate not only injuries but also future performance, providing personalized and precise monitoring.”
