The regional office of the Tunisian Organization for Education and Family in Sfax has launched the initiative “619, I consume Tunisian – We love our country”, on the occasion of the commemoration of Evacuation Day, celebrated on October 15. This campaign aims to encourage the consumption of Tunisian products and to strengthen support for the national economy.
Organized under the slogan “We continue on our path and remain committed to a strong economy,” this initiative aims to promote a culture of consumption favoring local products, while raising awareness among families and younger generations about the importance of supporting the Tunisian economic fabric.
A tribute to the founder of the initiative
This action also pays tribute to the late teacher Achraf Zouch, the originator of this initiative.
His project rested on an educational and family-oriented approach designed to encourage the consumption of Tunisian products, to valorize the national economic identity and to support businesses, artisans as well as local economic activities.
Through this campaign, the organizers aim to make preference for national products a daily practice within Tunisian families, capable of contributing to the development of local businesses and improving their competitiveness.
Signing of a charter to encourage Tunisian consumption
As part of this initiative, representatives of civil society associations, educational staff and participating students signed the “Family House Charter”, which provides five main commitments.
These commitments notably concern prioritizing Tunisian products bearing the 619 prefix on their barcode, raising young people’s awareness of the value of the national product and supporting artisans, young entrepreneurs as well as small and medium-sized enterprises.
The charter also aims to foster quality improvement of Tunisian products and to strengthen their capacity to face competition.
“619 Clubs” soon to be established in educational institutions
One of the main axes of this initiative concerns the creation of “619 Clubs” within educational institutions.
These clubs will be tasked with raising students’ awareness of the importance of domestic production, promoting responsible consumption, and encouraging young people to become actors in the valorization of Tunisian products.
The organizers also plan to continue awareness campaigns at regional and national levels to broaden the reach of this approach.
The next step will thus be devoted to establishing these educational clubs, designed as spaces for awareness-raising and mobilization around supporting the local economy.
Through this initiative, the regional office of the Tunisian Organization for Education and Family in Sfax hopes to contribute to the promotion of Tunisian enterprises and the valorization of domestic production, under the slogan: “The Tunisian product first.”
