Sustainable tourism in Tunisia is emerging as a central pillar for innovation and resilience within the framework of the country’s new development model.
This sector, traditionally the engine of economic growth, is evolving to harmonize the needs of tourists with those of local communities and natural ecosystems. Tunisia, rich in cultural and natural heritage, is turning toward a development model that fully integrates the principles of sustainability.
Promoting Tunisia as an Innovative Destination
It is in this context that the Tunisian Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts is launching a call for applications to select five professionals from the tourism sector to represent Tunisia at the “Fa’ la cosa giusta! 2026” fair in Italy.
This event, the national fair for responsible consumption, will take place from March 13 to 15, 2026 at the “Fiera Milano Rho.” Tour operators, Destination Management Companies (DMCs) and agencies committed to green practices submit their files. Participation fees will be fully covered, offering a unique opportunity to promote Tunisia as an innovative and environmentally responsible destination on the Italian market. This initiative fits into a national strategy to boost sustainable tourism.
Focus on Italian Responsible Tourism
“Fa’ la cosa giusta!” brings together on 30,000 m² more than 550 exhibitors and 450 varied activities, with free admission to attract a broad audience. Placed under the theme “How many people does it take to change the world?”, the 2026 edition explores individual and collective impact on the ecological transition.
The themes include organic food, ethical fashion, sustainable housing, gentle mobility, and specifically responsible tourism. Tunisian professionals will present innovative offerings there, such as ecotourism circuits or low-carbon accommodations, in front of an audience aware of environmental issues. This space fosters B2B meetings and interactive workshops to forge durable commercial links with Europe.
Criteria and Benefits for Tunisian Applicants
The call targets tourism actors who demonstrate a concrete commitment to the green economy or sustainable lifestyles. Applications must demonstrate environmentally responsible practices, such as waste reduction or valorization of local heritage through community partnerships.
The laureates will gain international visibility, strengthen their Italian networks, and export Tunisian models adapted to European standards. This collective presence reinforces the image of Tunisia as a pioneer in regenerative tourism, beyond the traditional beaches. The ministry will assist the selected participants in preparing attractive stands and multilingual promotional materials.
Priorities include the rapid submission of complete applications, the preparation of eco-innovative tourism offers, active participation in green tourism conferences, the signing of partnerships with Italian exhibitors, post-event commercial follow-up via newsletters, and the incorporation of feedback to enrich the national sustainable offer. These measures ensure maximal impact over six months.
