Sixth day of a war that has already ceased to resemble a mere “sequence of strikes.” Since the start of the American-Israeli offensive (Saturday, February 28), the escalation has extended in concentric circles: bombardments in Iran, missile and drone responses, maximum tension on American bases and interests in the Gulf, and an atmosphere of information siege around Israel.
This morning, an Iranian state media outlet reported a toll surpassing 1,000 dead in Iran since the start of the strikes, while capitals multiply calls for de-escalation and the UN finds itself under pressure to regain diplomatic initiative.
On the ground, the war is also fought on the “secondary axes”: the security of American facilities in the region, the nervousness of air corridors, and the risk of incidents in Gulf countries. Qatar had already indicated, at the start of the week, that a missile had struck the Al-Udeid base without causing casualties, a sign that red lines are moving quickly.
Another notable shift: the media front. Images of journalists being detained live on air in Tel Aviv have reinforced the idea of information lockdown at the very heart of the conflict zone.
